National Center for Protein Science •Shanghai (NCPSS) is rooted from National Facility for Protein Science Shanghai (NFPSS) project, which was approved by National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) in 2008 with its feasibility study signed off by NDRC in later 2010. NFPSS project officially commenced in Dec. 2010 and will take 3 years (2011-2013) to complete and upon its completion, NCPSS will be officially launched.
The total investment for NFPSS project (NCPSS phase I) is 120 million USD covering its construction and phase I instrument procurement with a piece of free land given by Shanghai Municipal Government as local support.
NCPSS is composed of 9 technology systems with state-of-the-art instruments in its Haike Road Campus and 6 Beamline stations within the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
NCPSS aims to house 40 young principal investigators attracted from top institutions around the world, who will conduct cutting-edge protein science research and technology development.
