CCP4/ Shanghai School in Macromolecular Crystallography
From Data collection to Structure Refinement and Beyond
12 – 21 October, 2019
Welcome to the international crystallographic school “From data collection to structure refinement and beyond”, jointly organized by Collaborative Computational Project Number 4 (CCP4), National Facility for Protein Science in Shanghai (NFPS), Shanghai Tech University iHuman institute and Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF).
PURPOSE OF THE SCHOOL
The course is intended mainly for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and young scientists in the area of structural biology from academic and commercial/industrial institutions from all across the globe.
The purpose of the school is enhancing the grasp of fundamental crystallographic concepts and in-depth teaching of the modern crystallographic software. A significant component of the workshop is to address specific crystallographic problems that the applicants face while collecting diffraction data and while solving and refining novel structures. Subsequently, the applicants are welcome to bring their own crystals for data collection, or already collected data for working on them with the guidance of some of the world’s leading experts. Prior knowledge of fundamentals of crystallography and some experience with crystallographic software is highly desirable.
All lectures at the school are open for attendance to all who are interested. However, only the selected applicants will participate in the tutorial and problem-solving sessions.
